We’re going back into orbit next February, as Space:1999 returns for three new out-of-this-world full cast audio adventures from Big Finish Productions.
Based on the original 1975 Gerry Anderson series starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, this audio reimagining debuted on 13 September 2019, exactly 20 years to the (fictional) day the occupants of Moonbase Alpha were first blasted into deep space.
The Alphans’ universe is expanded further in Earthbound, a brand new box set of three exciting adventures featuring the return of Mark Bonnar as Commander Koenig and Maria Teresa Creasey as Doctor Russell – now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition box set (on CD at £19.99) and as a digital download (at £16.99), exclusively from the Big Finish website, with the three tales as follows:
Mooncatcher by Marc Platt
Earthbound by Iain Meadows
Journey’s End by Nicholas Briggs
Producer David Richardson said: “Time again for our annual visit to Moonbase Alpha! This time we have an original story from Marc Platt, and then a loose two-part adaptation of the TV episode Earthbound. It’s a pivotal moment in the series and we felt strongly that Earthbound deserved to be expanded, embellished and rewired. I’ve got such strong and happy memories of watching the original as a child, and it’s been a real treat to revisit it for these audios. These are dark times on Alpha, and along comes an opportunity to return home to Earth. For one of the Alphans, this is the end of their journey…”
Director Nicholas Briggs added: “In this box set, we start to get to grips with the emotional impact that being torn away from Earth has had on the Alphans. We also delve deeper into the relationship between Commander John Koenig and Dr Helena Russell. And along the way, there are alien threats, personal tragedies, strange attractions, action and high adventure.”
