Captain Scarlet end titles paintings up for auction!

Two of the iconic paintings created for the end titles of 1967’s Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons will be up for auction next week at Bonhams!

The original artwork was painted for the show’s end titles by the artist Ron Embleton, whose long and varied career also saw work on the Stingray and Captain Scarlet strips in the TV21 comic, and were part of a set of ten paintings created for the series. This auction will offer fans to get their hands on the first painting showing Scarlet in a swamp (aka Lot 78) and the seventh featuring Scarlet and some deadly spikes (Lot 79), although it won’t be their first time under the hammer as both had previously been sold at auction at Christie’s in London in 2002.

The two Captain Scarlet lots form part of the Bonhams Rock, Pop and Film auction that begins at midday UK time on Wednesday May the 4th – and we hope they go to a good home!
