The wait is over – Supercar is now available to pre-order on Blu-ray, as part of the celebrations for the show’s 60th anniversary!
First airing in 1961, Supercar followed the adventures of heroic test pilot Mike Mercury, scientists Doctor Beaker and Professor Popkiss, little Jimmy Gibson and his pet monkey Mitch as they put the Supercar (an experimental vehicle that can travel on land, under the sea, through the air and even into space) through its paces! Across 39 exciting episodes the team also battled the sinister Masterspy and his sidekick Zarin, who were always keen to get their hands on Supercar! They never did…but now you can!
Thanks to our friends at Network, all 39 episodes of Supercar have now been restored in High Definition from the original 35mm negatives, and the show looks and sounds better than ever! The five-disc set can be pre-ordered now, with release currently expected on August 23rd!
Not only that, but when you order this deluxe limited edition you’ll also be able to enjoy a boxset of goodies, including a brand new Supercar comic, a new ‘making of’ book by television historian Andrew Pixley, and a replica Supercar Club badge and pilot’s license! As with previous Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 sets, these deluxe sets will be a limited edition release, and will no doubt be very hard to find after they’ve sold out – once they’re gone, they’re gone!
It’s been several years since the last Anderson Blu-ray release, but now the clever chaps at Network have got the ball rolling on upgrading more classic Anderson titles to High Definition. Supercar is the first – but hopefully not the last!
