This week in Gerry Anderson news!

All my subjects, your orders; read the Gerry Anderson news roundup!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Sunday evening, and featured the first part of an interview with artist Paul Shipper, the man behind the poster for the upcoming Stand by for Action 2 concert! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) a scheme to gather intelligence on the Mysterons goes awry in the Captain Scarlet episode Shadow of Fear!

How well do you know your Anderson acronyms? We continue our investigation with a look at the acronyms used by various organisations in the wider Anderson universe in this new article!

Discover how each of the five main Thunderbird craft are introduced in each of their debut Thunderbirds episodes, in this week’s Thunderbirds Thursday article!

Our friends at Talking Pictures TV have another sci-fi puppet series coming your way next weekend! In addition to first-run Captain Scarlet on Saturday afternoons at 3pm, and Fireball XL5 repeats Friday evenings at 6.30pm, from June 15th at 9.50am you can also hop aboard Galasphere 347 for Roberta Leigh’s Space Patrol! Will you be tuning in?

We were sad to learn this week of the passing on April 27th of actor Roy Boyd, who played Joe Lustig in the Space:1999 episode The Immunity Syndrome. On the big screen Roy could be seen in The Wicker Man, The Omen and A Bridge Too Far, with television guest appearances including episodes of Doctor Who, Blakes 7, The Professionals, The Sweeney, The New Avengers, Minder, The Saint and many more. Our thoughts go out to all who knew him.

This week saw a trio of heavenly birthdays as we remembered Torchy and Four Feather Falls voice artist Kenneth Connor (born June 6th 1918), The Secret Service star Stanley Unwin (June 7th 1911) and Jeremy Wilkin (June 6th 1930) whose many Anderson roles included Virgil Tracy in the second season of Thunderbirds (and the show’s two feature films), Captain Ochre in Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, and Lt. Gordon Maxwell in UFO. Popular Anderson episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Fireball XL5‘s Faster Than Light (June 2nd 1963), Supercar‘s The Lost City (June 3rd 1961), Stingray‘s The Golden Sea (June 3rd 1965), and TerrahawksChild’s Play (June 7th 1986).

We’ll be back next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup – will you be joining us? Human decision required!
