This week in Gerry Anderson News

Attention all personnel – it’s time for the Gerry Anderson news roundup!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the second half of our interview with legendary actor and writer Nigel Planer! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

One of Nigel’s favourite Anderson memories involves a famous Thunderbirds parody sketch produced by two British comedy legends! Have a look at the above clip to learn more!

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) the Space Precinct team attempted to protect a political candidate who won’t stay dead, in the episode Divided We Stand!

On Wednesday this week’s FAB Fact video took us into the murky world of Martin Kane Private Investigator, for the first meeting between two legends of the Anderson universe! Watch the video to find out more!

As part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Terrahawks this year, Anderson Entertainment had been hoping to partner with Network Distributing to release a Blu-ray boxset collecting HD re-edits of the 6 Terrahawks VHS compilations of the 1980s – and the remaining ‘uncompiled’ episodes of the show across 3 new compilations! Unfortunately the demise of Network means the project has had to be abandoned – at least for now – but as part of our ’10 Months of Terrahawks’ celebrations, our rough first edit of the never-produced seventh Terrahawks compilation movie Two for the Price of One is now available to view on YouTube!

New today on our YouTube channel is a short feature in which Alan Pattillo recalls the filming of one of the most iconic elements of Thunderbirds – the Thunderbird 2 launch sequence!

We were sad to learn this week of the unexpected liquidation of the collectibles manufacturer Big Chief Studios, whose upcoming product lines included a 1/6 scale Space:1999 Commander Koenig figure and three waves of assorted 3.75 inch Anderson action figures – and we’re very sorry for those who had placed pre-orders with the company that now won’t be fulfilled. However, if you pre-ordered these through the Official Gerry Anderson Store please check your email inbox for information on how we intend to resolve this situation for you!

Just landed this week is this out-of-this-world collection of Space:1999 model kits from MPC! Choose from Lab Pod Eagle, Cargo Eagle, Hawk, Moonbuggy or Stun Gun/Commlock!

This week we remember the late Fireball XL5 voice artist John Bluthal on his August 12th birthday, while popular episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Space:1999’s The Bringers of Wonder part 2 (August 11th 1977), Supercar‘s The White Line (August 6th 1961), and Space Precinct’s Divided We Stand (August 12th 1995).

We’ll be back next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup – so stay on this channel!
