From movie legends to upcoming events, it’s been another week of excitement in the Anderson universe – here’s everything that’s been going on!
This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured a chat between Jamie Anderson and Vanessa Harryhausen – daughter of the great filmmaker Ray Harryhausen! If you missed this week’s episode you can catch it (and all other previous episodes) either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice!
Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) the Terrahawks were drawn into a mad general’s plan to destroy Zelda once and for all, in the episode First Strike!
On Wednesday this week’s FAB Fact video took a trip to the Earth’s core with Lieutenant Green, as we explore other films that were in production during filming of Space:1999!
Over at the Official Gerry Anderson Store we have a stunning new Captain Scarlet t-shirt design – but if you fancy adding this one to your collection you’ll have to be quick, as it’ll only be in stock until May 31st!
The hunt is on for Joe 90! We’re searching for Len Jones, who voiced the title character in Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s 1968 Supermarionation series. His screen acting career ended in the mid-1970s, and his current whereabouts are unknown! Do you have any ideas where he might be? If so, get in touch at [email protected].
As part of our 10 Months of Terrahawks celebration we have a new article on the site, cataloguing the roster of Zeroids as seen across all 39 episodes of the television series – but which of Sergeant Major Zero’s ‘lovely boys’ (and girls) were your favourite?
We have a couple of upcoming events for you to look forward to! On June 1st at 6pm you can visit the Cartoon Museum in London for an evening with Jamie Anderson and comics artist Lee Sullivan, exploring the history of Anderson comics. Tickets for this event are now available from the Cartoon Museum’s website!
But that’s not all! We’ll also be attending BritSciFi at the Leicester Space Centre on Saturday June 17th and Sunday June 18th! On Saturday there’ll be a live recording of the Gerry Anderson Podcast, and on the Sunday there’ll be a live broadcast of FAB Live! More information on the event is available on the Space Centre website.
New on our YouTube channel is a video looking back at the Thunderbirds F.A.B. stage show, from its origins in 1984 to its enduring popularity into the 1990s and beyond!
Popular Anderson episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Stingray‘s Count Down (May 9th 1965), Terrahawks‘ First Strike (May 10th 1986) and the final episode of the original Captain Scarlet! (May 12th 1968).
That’s all the news for this week – stand by for more action next week!
