This week in Gerry Anderson news! (November 11th 2023)

It’s time to put the Gerry Anderson news roundup on the pad for immediate liftoff!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the first part of an interview with Tomorrow People star (and Space:1999 guest actor) Nicholas Young! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) The Protectors became involved with international drug smugglers, as they played The Numbers Game!

Anderson Entertainment have a stand at the Scale ModelWorld event being held at the International Centre in Telford this weekend November 11th and 12th! We’ll be showcasing some of our most recent merchandise, much of which has never been available to purchase at any event before, as well as a chance to see our upcoming new premium Space:1999 Eagles – plus one or two exclusive teases of upcoming releases! For more information on the event or to book tickets, visit the Scale ModelWorld website.

Fancy winning your very own copy of the Joe 90 Technical Operations Manual? Our various social media channels – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – are running a competition that would give one lucky contestant a chance to win this beautiful hardback book – will it be you?

We were very sad to hear of the passing yesterday of David Elliott, director of more than 50 classic episodes of Supermarionation across such series as Four Feather Falls, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, and of course Thunderbirds – plus more recently installments of Century 21 Films’ Thunderbirds 50th anniversary episodes and Nebula-75. We hope you find time this weekend to give one of David’s many classic episodes a tribute viewing.

Looking back to notable dates from the past, Captain Scarlet‘s original Lieutenant Green, voice actor Cy Grant, was born November 8th 1919, while popular episodes that first aired in the UK this week in previous years include UFO’s The Square Triangle (November 9th 1970) and Sub-smash (November 11th 1970), ThunderbirdsRicochet (November 6th 1966) and 30 Minutes after Noon (November 11th 1965), Stingray‘s Set Sail for Adventure (November 8th 1964), Captain Scarlet‘s The Trap (November 10th 1967) and Space:1999‘s Black Sun (November 6th 1975).

We have ignition, and liftoff – but we’ll return to base next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup!
