Stand by for Action; This Week in Gerry Anderson News!

Attention Marineville – stand by for an urgent news bulletin!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the second part of an interview with Space:1999 star Prentis Hancock! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) The Secret Service‘s Father Unwin had a Recall to Service as he investigated possible sabotage of the Army’s new Aquatank!

This week saw the new Corgi model of Stingray go live for order at the Official Gerry Anderson Store, with the limited edition OGA-branded packaging selling out in a matter of hours! If you missed out, don’t worry; you can still place an order for the version in regular packaging through the Store! You can also read our launch article here.

On Tuesday we unveiled our picks for the five best (and one worst) logos of the Anderson universe – did you favourites make the cut? Check out our list here!

This week’s Thunderbirds Thursday article promised exciting developments in 2024 – as well as delving into a little known fact about the making of the series! Were you aware of this little nugget of Thunderbirds trivia?

It was a Fireball Friday night this week as we joined the World Space Patrol’s finest for an exclusive first look at the upcoming Fireball XL5 Technical Operations Manual! If you missed this very special livestream (or if you’d like to watch it again) take your oxygen pills and watch the above video!

We were sad to hear this week of the January 4th passing of actress Georgina Hale, who played the unnamed girl on the train in the popular The Protectors episode Shadbolt. Known to early 90s kids as the witch Tabatha Bag in the ITV series T-Bag, her other television credits included episodes of Doctor Who, One Foot in the Grave, Hammer House of Horror, Minder, and Upstairs Downstairs, with a notable film and stage career also spanning multiple decades.

Celebrating a January 13th birthday is Thunderbirds audio drama voice artist Genevieve Gaunt, while popular Anderson episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Space:1999‘s The Infernal Machine (January 8th 1976), Stingray‘s Rescue from the Skies (January 10th 1965), Fireball XL5‘s The Last of the Zanadus (January 13th 1963), ThunderbirdsThe Impostors (January 13th 1966), and UFO‘s Mindbender (January 14th 1971), with stop motion fantasy series Lavender Castle also celebrating its 25th anniversary on January 7th.

Attention Marineville! Anything can happen in the next week – and so we’ll be back next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup!
