This week in Gerry Anderson News

Terrahawks, stay on this channel – this is the Gerry Anderson news roundup!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the second part of an interview with actress and Thunderbirds voice artist Genevieve Gaunt! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) the Fireball XL5 crew found themselves thrown back in time – to the year 1875!

This week has been all about Terrahawks, as we approach the 40th anniversary of the show’s very first broadcast on British television on October 8th 1983! Our friends at Brew York got in first with the launch of their Terrahawks branded beer, which you can order here!

Anderson Entertainment also have three new books lined up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Terrahawks, which you’ll be able to pre-order from October 8th! These are:

  • Flaming Thunderbolts: The Definitive Story of Terrahawks, written by Fred McNamara is packed full of information about the show, offering a rare glimpse into Hawknest and beyond.
  • Full-colour graphic novel Terrahawks: Deep Blue Z features two completely new stories penned by Chris Thompson and Andrew Clements, with art by Connor Flanagan.
  • The 144-page Terrahawks Comic Anthology reprints the original Terrahawks cartoon strips that were originally featured in Look-in magazine, supplemented by articles about some of the writers and artists involved.

Also on Sunday 8 October, a two-disc limited edition Terrahawks soundtrack CD in special collectors O-card packaging will be released. This soundtrack features the memorable opening theme, original musical cues from the show, hit singles released at the time of airing (sung by the character Kate Kestrel) and for the first time, a newly remastered version of the Terrahawks Suite performed by a full orchestra at the Stand By For Action! concert, recorded at Birmingham Symphony Hall in April 2022.

On Tuesday October 10th you can also join David Munday and Jack Knoll for a Terrahawks-themed livestream celebrating the series, the new releases, and more! Expect the unexpected!

Celebrating birthdays this week were Space:1999 actors Sam Dastor (October 2nd) and Sarah Bullen (October 3rd) while popular episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include UFO’s E.S.P. (October 7th 1970), ThunderbirdsAtlantic Inferno (October 2nd 1966) and Pit of Peril (October 7th 1965), Captain Scarlet‘s Winged Assassin (October 6th 1967) and Space:1999s Death’s Other Dominion (October 2nd 1975).

We’ll be back next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup – so keep this frequency clear!
