This week in Gerry Anderson news!

Stand by for Stingray: Deadly Uprising, in this week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson news roundup!

This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Sunday evening, and featured the second part of an interview with Lavender Castle voice artist Kate Harbour! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.

Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) The Protectors investigated the curious case of the Burning Bush!

This week’s big news saw the announcement of Deadly Uprising, a brand new multi-platform story celebrating the 60th anniversary of Stingray! You can read more about this exciting new chapter of the Stingray story in a new article here or at the dedicated Deadly Uprising minisite here.

Colchester Castle have just opened an exhibition of vintage television puppets, including many from the world of Supermarionation! Thunderbirds and Co: The Joy of Puppetry pays tribute to the pioneers of British television puppetry, and runs until June 30th. Entry to the exhibition is free with admission to the castle.

This week’s Thunderbirds Thursday article asked how many Zero Xs are there across the Anderson universe? The answer may surprise you!

We were sad to hear the announcement this week of the December 23rd 2023 passing of actress Lynn Loring, who played Sharon Ross in Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s 1969 feature film Doppelgänger (aka Journey to the Far Side of the Sun). Married to Doppelgänger star Roy Thinnes at the time of the movie’s production, Loring’s other screen appearances included guest roles in episodes of The Invaders, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Burke’s Law and The Mod Squad among others, before she moved into production in the mid-1970s. Our thoughts go out to all who knew her.

Celebrating birthdays this week were Space:1999 and The Protectors actress Yasuko Nagazumi (April 4th) and Doppelgänger star Roy Thinnes (April 6th), while April 3rd was also the anniversary of the 1937 birth of Supercar voice artist Graydon Gould. Popular Anderson episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Fireball XL5‘s Mystery of the TA2 (March 31st 1963), ThunderbirdsSecurity Hazard (March 31st 1966), Supercar‘s The Sky’s the Limit (April 1st 1962), Captain Scarlet‘s The Launching (April 2nd 1968), and Stingray‘s The Disappearing Ships (April 4th 1965).

Anything can happen in the next few months, as we prepare to launch Stingray: Deadly Uprising! Stay tuned to this news roundup to keep up to date with the latest developments!
